COMPOSTABILITY
What are they made of?
The biocapsule from Terracaps® is made of a bioplastic (Terrablend®), which is made of renewable raw materials. The technical additives are also biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Terracaps ® is certified as CO 2 / climate neutral by Climate Partner

How can the capsules be disposed of?
It is best to first check with your local authority as waste collections vary across the country. The capsules are certified for industrial composting in accordance with EN 13432. This means, ideally, the capsules need temperatures above 50° Celsius to decompose as fast and environmentally friendly as possible. The lower the temperature, the longer the capsule will take to decompose. In the worst case scenario, if the capsule is thrown away somewhere in nature, it might take up to a year.

Can I dispose of the capsules in my home compost bin?
You can, but without temperatures of 50° Celsius the capsules will take longer to break down, possibly up to one year.

What happens if I dispose of the capsules in the general waste bin?
Waste is increasingly being sent to energy-from-waste facilities. Being compostable has little benefit here, but if the material is bio-based the net CO2 e emissions are likely to be less than for conventional plastic.
